I am currently in the process of moving to Davis, California. In less than one week, my friends and family will gather at my apartment (many for the first time) and help me load all of my belongings on to a truck. While I’m excited both for the move as well as to begin the next chapter of my life, I cannot help but think about the people I will leave behind.
Since I began volunteering and working at the Pasadena Humane Society, I have befriended numerous people whom I will forever be indebted to for all that they have given me. Some have given me skills that will be put to good use in veterinary school. Others have provided me with kind words of advice and support, not to mention many, many laughs! However, every single one of them has given me an education in friendship and selflessness. Never before have I been around a group of individuals that cares so genuinely about giving and caring for one another. These individuals inspire me to be a better person as well as a better friend to people around me. I will, no doubt, miss them terribly during vet school, but I have every intention of returning to visit and keeping in contact with them so as to maintain the strong bonds of friendship that we share.
