I stumbled across your blog this morning and, first of all, I just wanted to thank you for being one of the only career counseling and guidance blogs I have ever seen for pre-veterinary students.
~
Thank you so much for being so honest, heartfelt, and showing not only the pros but the many cons of vet school. Thank you for all your amazing blog posts!
~
I love reading your blog! It helped me so much with the vet school admission process.
Now that I’m in vet school, I still find I turn to your blog for advice!
~
I am a pre-vet student who has loved reading your blog religiously for two years now. You have found exactly the right balance between realistic and encouraging and I sincerely thank you for that.
~
I want to start out by thanking you for your wonderful blog. I just stumbled onto it today and you have helped to answer so many questions already…
~
While blindly researching information on how to apply to DVM school, I literally stumbled upon your blog. Your story sounds SO much like my own. I can’t tell you what a relief it was to know that there is someone else out there like me.
~
I love your blog. Thank you for taking the time to put it together.
~
First of all I just want to say thank you. Thank you so much for everything that you have dedicated your website to. I have spent hours upon hours reading nearly every post and though I am still stuck in a small bit of uncertainty, I can say that you have been great help.
~
I simply can’t express how helpful your blog has been to me, even though I’m in the earliest stages of preparing to apply to vet school. I’m happy to donate to keep your posts coming, with the amount information as I’ve already absorbed! I love that you and so many of your readers are vet students and pre-vets with non-traditional backgrounds, since that’s the same baffling and stressful situation in which I find myself, a 23-year-old history major who hasn’t taken a science class since high school.
~
I want to say thank you for answering questions about how to get into vet school and also your answers/blog posts keeps me motivated throughout this process. I was feeling a little defeated last week because I have so much to do before applying next year, which is coming up FAST! … But your positive attitude helped me look at the bigger picture, so I just want to say thank you for taking the time and responding to questions, giving out advice and helping me to stay focus/positive.

I found your blog through Google a few weeks ago and was really impressed with all the information on it.
~
I wanted to give you a big thanks and let you know how informative and helpful your blog has been.
~
Thank you so much for taking the time and answering my questions. Any guidance helps. I’m not going to let my fear stop me from trying my best at achieving my dreams. All I can do is try my absolute best and that is what I am going to do!

Hi! My name is MC and I’m a pre-vet student at the University of California, Davis. I really enjoy reading your blog and I appreciate your honest straightforward advice for pre-veterinary students. And I think I spoke with you during the dinner with a vet student social event hosted by the Vet Aides Club. I instantly remembered you because you were the only person that does rock climbing in her free time. Anyways, the section about getting diverse experiences in the veterinary field gave me great comfort. Being from a background where I did not have the typical pre-vet journey like yourself I felt instantly insecure about my background.
When I talk to other pre-vet students they constantly criticize me about my tendency to move on to other opportunities in the veterinary medicine field rather than stay in a clinic for several years. It was amazingly reassuring to hear from someone successful like you saying that you did not have all the answers when you were in your my situation. I do not have to know my master plan and knowing that I’m able to enjoy my journey to become a veterinarian now or at least I hate it a little less.
I come across some amazing veterinarians in my time and I noticed the greatest veterinarians don’t just diagnose or research. They inspire. And you inspired me.

Hi! My name is KMD, and I am also a fellow Sagehen (class of ’08, econ major) from the Bay Area. I don’t recall meeting you in Claremont, probably because we were 2 years apart and in completely separate departments, and the psych major I know is JH (’08).
I randomly stumbled upon your blog through the SDN pre-vet forum, and I spent most of yesterday reading every single post! Your advice is both informational and inspirational. As a non-traditional applicant, I have been seriously looking into switching paths (from engineering and computer science) to pursue my life-long dream of veterinary medicine for the past 4 months, but getting repeatedly discouraged by the fact that I have a pretty rocky transcript and would have to spend several more years as a full-time student.
Reading your blog changed all of that, and re-inspired me to keep chugging no matter what it takes! Thank you for the advice, and good luck with the rest of your quarter. I look forward to reading more entries!

Hi! I am a future vet student (beginning classes next fall as the class of 2015!!!) at Iowa State University. I stumbled upon your blog searching for what to expect in vet school. I have only read a few entries, but I like that you can give me a little insight on what it will be like even though it’s different schools. It makes me want to start a blog as well!! Thanks for posting your experiences!!
~
I must say you are an excellent writer, and your blog is great. I have never thought of looking for blogs as part of my application research process, but I think I will start looking more to add to my VMCAS and school specifics.

Thank you for taking the time to create your blog!

I’ve read a few posts on the blog and found it extremely useful, especially your personal statement, which I found inspiring.

I stumbled onto your blog today (I’m so glad I did!) and it’s been tremendously helpful already 🙂 Your story sounds so similar to mine, although I haven’t gotten into vet school yet.

I just stumbled upon your blog this morning and I can’t believe what a masterpiece I just found. I am so relieved to find other people who feel the same way as I do and I find your blog inspiring.

I was very happy to come across your blog because I haven’t been able to find answers to my questions anywhere and also can’t get any college advisors to email me back, kinda frustrating, but you seem to answer everyone and be very polite!
~
I really enjoy reading your blog! I feel like I can totally relate to you.
~
I came across your blog about 2 weeks ago and I LOVE it! I was a veterinary technician for about 10 years and LOVED every minute of it.
~
I’m glad I found your blog! I could relate to your What’s Stopping You from Pursuing your Vet Dreams. I’ve wanted to be a vet for a long time, but kept making excuses as to why I shouldn’t pursue it. I didn’t believe in myself that I could make it happen but now I do, after starting volunteer work at the local animal shelter this past summer. I found that working with animals really make my heart sing.
~
I actually believe it or not, just spent like 1 1/2 – 2 hours reading your WHOLE blog. (okay I sort of skipped the posts that weren’t veterinary related) I was very emotionally inspired by it. I especially loved your cat pooping in the toilet.
At one point, I teared up as I read the post with the person who asked “what’s stopping you?” For YEARS AND YEARS I have been going back and forth on what I want to do as a career. I would probably date back to elementary school (like all the other little kids) who wanted to become a vet. And like most students, I grew up with a animal by my side, even up till now.

I love your blog and getting more insight into the life of a vet student, especially coming from Davis.
